Virginia and Washington D.C
We are into the 8th day of the journey. We are covering Virginia and Washington D.C in this excerpt. Details of how our 12th and 13th May went are as follows:
- George Mason University, Virginia: On 12th morning, we visited my brothers university from where he completed his masters. Its a round robin university. Greenery and progressive expansion at its best. Once you get in, you are challenged to get out in your first try. There were so many beautiful buildings and can say that this university has occupied large chunk of city.
- White House: Our first destination was the house of USA president after landing in Marriott hotel for $81 per day. To my surprise, we observe that there was not enough security near the place where president stays. Its kind of open and we were able to see White house from very near. Looked a very peaceful and beautiful place but still feel that security-wise and also locationwise, president needs more attention.
- Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum: You think of D.C and you can't get away from the thought of museums as we can also say that D.C is the museum and memorial city. This museum was one of its kind which teaches us how to fly? It was fully equipped with basic understanding of how the airplane flies, all its internal controls, handle various controls in cockpit etc. After visiting this museum, I certainly felt too much inclined to whole mechanism involved in making the airplane fly. I will really appreciate my next airplane journey especially after visiting this museum. Going to such museums really makes us feel appreciative towards the modern inventions.
- Lincoln Memorial: This was symbolized by the huge statue of Lincoln and its various writings inscribed on the internal walls of the memorial building. This one is quite famous and is right in front of the Washington monument building which in needle shaped.
- Korean War Memorial: This is the open park memorial having number of statues of Korean soldiers. It really aroused the fighting spirit by looking at those statues.
- Parliament House: This is the political place where the political issues are being discussed just like we have the parliament house in India.
- Smithsonian National History Museum: On 13th morning, we started with this museum describing the wild life and its evolution. We also saw many dinosaurs and came to know that there are dinosaurs that are purely vegetarian which was kind off new to me. Also came to know various types of dinosaurs and their teeth which are dangerous and which are not that sharp in grinding the meat. There was the global exhibition of how the earth evolved which was amazing feeling looking at the globe in front of us. We are looking at the earth be being on top of it.
- Jefferson Memorial: Another memorial we visited in D.C was that of Jefferson Memorial. This one was also very nice one with statue of Jefferson and his writings displayed on the internal walls of the building.
- World War 2 memorial: This was our last destination in D.C. The world war 2 was the open park where in all states in US are being inscribed in the surrounding walls of the memorial with water body in between. It symbolizes the beauty of states in USA and their importance.
In all, this was the best experience in D.C and can say proudly say that it is the well named capital of USA. Next we are going to the Connecticut and winding of the trip from Boston.
